Artist in Residence

The Artist In Residence Project is a series of 97 self-established, guerrilla-style, artist residencies. Through the Artist in Residence project, any site or duration of time can become a space for creating. During these art happenings, an art residency is created by placing a plaque labeled “Artist in Residence” in a place of interest or access and is used as a site for engaging in artistic practice. Residency sites can be far-reaching and include sites such as the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the cave hideout of outlaw Jesse James, the sky, the Buffalo National River, junkyards, the artist's own kitchen table, and remote areas of the Canadian wilderness. The 97 completed art residencies were recorded by date and location.
